The Edit Tweet feature is a notable addition to the social networking platform. There haven’t been many major changes on Twitter lately. To recap, Twitter increased the character count for a tweet from 140 to 280 about five years ago. Now, the company says it wants to make tweeting less stressful and more approachable with the introduction of the Edit Tweet feature.
How Does The Edit Tweet Feature Work?
At present, Twitter doesn’t offer a way to correct grammatical mistakes and typos once you share a tweet. So, you have to delete the entire tweet and share it again. However, the Edit Tweet feature will let users modify their tweets even after posting them. In other words, you won’t have to delete a tweet in case of any typos or grammatical mistakes.
However, you will be able to edit a tweet a few times in the 30 minutes following its posting. According to Twitter, users can fix typos and do things like adding missed tags in a short period of time, according to a report by Mint.
Can You Use The Edit Tweet Feature?
Initially, the Edit Tweet feature will not be available to all users. The feature will roll out to Twitter Blue subscribers in the coming weeks. Notably, Twitter Blue subscribers will get early access to the much-awaited feature. Also, Twitter plans to localize the test to just one country in the initial stage. The company will gradually expand it while understanding how people use the Edit Tweet feature.
In case you are unaware, Twitter Blue subscribers pay $4.99 every month to get full access to premium features. The service is currently available in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and the US. These subscribers can access the undo button as well. This feature blocks a tweet from being published if used within up to 30 seconds after hitting the send button.
Other Key Details About The Edit Tweet Feature
Everyone using Twitter will be able to see if a tweet has been modified. There will be a label, icon, and timestamp to notify readers that the tweet has been edited. You can simply tap the label to check the tweet’s edit history.
