Last year, a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO was sold for $48.4 million at RM Sotheby’s auctions, making it officially the most expensive car. The car belonged to one of the 36 units that were ever manufactured. In brand new condition, the Ferrari 250 GTO usually retails for about $18,000.

Five years ago, another Ferrari 250 GTO was bought for an equally enormous sum of more than $38 million. Apparently, the owner made a colossal profit on his/her original investment. This auction took place at Bonhams, which is a privately owned international auction house.

The classic Ferrari 335S Spider Scaglietti sold for 35.7 million dollars back in 2016 at Artcurial, a French auction house. This sports racing car was manufactured between 1957 and 1958. It came with a V12 engine, which enabled it to reach a top speed of about 300 kph.

Driven by Stirling Moss, this Mercedes-Benz W196 was sold for 29.6 million dollars at Bonham’s auction house. The model is a Formula One racing car, which was manufactured between 1954 and 1955. This 209 MM sold for a staggering sum of $28 million back in 2015. The auction was organized by RM Sotheby’s classic car auction company.
This Juan Manuel Fangio-driven car finished fourth in the 156 Mille Miglia race. Bearing the post-nominal initials ‘MM,’ which referred to Mille Miglia, Ferrari had quite a few of them for the same race.
