Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 Could Draw Its Juices From An LG Battery

It looks like LG will be making the battery for the hotly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldable smartphone. Notably, the South Korean tech behemoth isn’t on the verge of unveiling its next foldable phone.

Moreover, the word on the street is that the next Samsung foldable smartphones aren’t set to go official before the second half of this year.

Despite the lack of an official confirmation, the rumor mill is churning out speculations surrounding various components in the upcoming foldable devices from Samsung.

According to a report by TheElec, Samsung will be changing its battery supplier for the Galaxy Z Flip 4. Moreover, the report suggests that LG Energy Solution will be making the battery for the company’s next clamshell foldable.

Samsung To Work With LG To Make The Battery Of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

This is quite surprising given that LG is one of Samsung’s biggest competitors in its home country of South Korea. However, this is the first time the two tech giants will be teaming up.

To recall, Samsung has previously used batteries from LG Energy Solution for the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series devices. Now, it is reportedly prepping to use a small pouch-type battery from LG Energy Solution for the Galaxy Z Flip 4.

Samsung SDI has been providing batteries for the company’s foldable smartphones until now. However, Samsung is likely to change the battery provider considering its previous experience with using LG batteries.

Aside from this, the devices with LG batteries have garnered high evaluation. So, it is barely surprising that the company wants to source batteries for the Galaxy Z Flip 4.

According to some industry sources, the move will enable Samsung to diversify the supply chain, and acquire cost reduction. Moreover, it will enable Samsung to increase its profit margins on the upcoming foldable device.

However, it is still unclear if this will result in a lower price tag than the Galaxy Z Flip 3, which retails for $999.
