Samsung has finally confirmed Galaxy Watch 5 branding. Also, the Classic variant will not see the light of the day.
Earlier reports suggested that Samsung isn’t planning to launch a Classic model for the Galaxy Watch 5. So, the upcoming smart wearable will debut as the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro models.
To recap, the Classic model has been the only one to get a rotating bezel in all previous generations. In other words, the South Korean tech behemoth could permanently ditch the rotating bezel.
Now, Samsung seems to have accidentally confirmed the Galaxy Watch 5 branding. However, the Classic model isn’t been listed.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Branding Revealed
The company recently rolled out beta version 6.22.0.069 for its Samsung Health app. It launched the Galaxy Watch 4 One UI 4.5 beta yesterday, as spotted by 9to5Google.
The list of devices that this beta version 6.22.0.069 supports includes the Galaxy Watch 5. However, the Classic model isn’t mentioned on the list.
This could probably mean that the Classic model of Samsung’s Galaxy Watch has been ditched for good. Many Samsung smartwatch fans love the rotating bezel.
So, taking away the rotating bezel won’t make a lot of fans happy. Nevertheless, this is a major sign that Samsung no longer thinks rotating the bezel is necessary.
It will be interesting to see if all the other improvements that the company brings into its new smartwatches will help fans forget about the bezel.
Past leaks suggest that the Galaxy Watch 5 will deliver a longer battery life. This could make the elimination of the bezel sting a bit less.
The Galaxy Watch 5 series could launch in August or September 2022.
