Samsung isn’t likely to unveil the Galaxy S24 series anytime soon. Still, its processor configuration has been leaked.
The Korean brand launched the Galaxy S23 series of smartphones at the Upacked 2023 event on February 1. The Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra brought major upgrades over the outgoing Galaxy S22 lineup.
This performance boost and power efficiency gain can be attributed to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy processor. Now, some reports claim the Galaxy S24 series will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor to draw power as well. Ahead of the Galaxy S24’s rumored 2024 launch, details about its possible processor have popped up on the web.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Processor Details
Developer Kuba Wojciechowski has shared the CPU and GPU configurations of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor via a tweet. The chipset’s codename is either Lanai or Pineapple and it has model number SM8650. The chipset could comprise one ARM Cortex-X series ‘Gold+’ CPU core and a couple of ARM Cortex-A7xx ‘Titanium’ CPU cores.

Moreover, the processor is likely to feature two ARM Cortex-A5xx ‘Silver’ CPU cores and three ARM Cortex-A7xx ‘Gold’ CPU cores. Regrettably, details about the CPU cores’ clock speeds are still scarce. Also, the chipset does not have a CPU core. So, it won’t support games or 32-bit Android apps.
Aside from this, a report by SamMobile suggests all developers will have to update their apps to a 64-bit architecture. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will have the Adreno 750 GPU (Adreno Gen 7.9.0), which clocks at 770MHz. However, it could deliver higher clock speed in real life. Unsurprisingly, it will support Linux Kernel 6.1 and Android 14.
The processor could use TSMC’s new 4nm process or a 3nm process from Samsung Foundry. Details about ARM’s next-generation CPU and GPU cores are few and far between. Nevertheless, these details surface online before the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset’s official announcement.
Samsung is reportedly planning to use a customized version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24, and Galaxy S24+ smartphones.
