Chinese company OnePlus is about to introduce new phones in the sub-Rs. 20,000 segment. These handsets are likely to launch in the Indian market in the future.
The Chinese manufacturer has modified its smartphone strategy in the last few years. Previously, the company focused on flagship devices.
However, under the Nord series, the company has offered several affordable smartphones.
The launch timeline of the new smartphones can be as early as next quarter or Q2 2022. After merging with OnePlus, Oppo will be dictating the terms to OnePlus.
Data engineer and freelance journalist Yogesh Brar has tweeted that next year OnePlus is going to introduce smartphones in the sub-Rs. 20K segment. However, the company hasn’t revealed any specific details about the handset introduction.
Oppo has always been linked to OnePlus one way or the other. But now they are dictating the terms. OnePlus is going through a shift, and sub 20k phones for India are on the cards.

Brar wrote that Oppo has always been linked to OnePlus one way or the other. But now they are dictating the terms. He alleged that the phones may launch as early as next quarter or even be delayed to Q2 2022.
Affordable OnePlus Phones Coming To India
Until 2019, Chinese manufacturers primarily focused on releasing two flagship series every year. However, last year the company changed its strategy by introducing the Nord series.
Since then, the company has launched several affordable Nord smartphones, the latest ones being the Nord 2 and the Nord CE 5G. In India, the OnePlus Nord 2 and the Nord CE 5G come at a starting price of Rs 27,999 and Rs 24,999, respectively.
Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, and other leading brands currently dominate the affordable smartphone segment in India. These brands offer consumers budget smartphones. OnePlus will also enter this smartphone segment if it offers phones under the price tag of Rs 20,000.
Last month, as per reports, the company was working on a new smartphone named ‘OnePlusRT’ as an affordable R variant with the OnePlus 9 series. The company will introduce the smartphone in October.
