OnePlus is reportedly working on a new smartphone named ‘OnePlusRT’ as an affordable R variant with the OnePlus 9 series.
A recent report says that the company will introduce the smartphone in October. Aside from that, the upcoming product will have some improvements over the existing OnePlus 9R. Earlier reports suggest that the product will be available in selected markets only.
The upcoming handset’s specifications have surfaced on the Chinese micro-blogging site – Weibo. The product is said to have a 6.55-inch FHD+ E3 AMOLED display with 2400×1080 pixel resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Furthermore, it will house an upgraded camera system. However, the processing unit (Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 870) remains the same. The handset will boot OxygenOS 12 based Android 12 OS.
As for security, the R variant could feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, a glass sandwich design with Corning Gorilla Glass protection, and an aluminum alloy chassis with AG Frosted Corning Gorilla Glass back cover.

The three storage-memory configurations of the product are as follows: 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 256GB. It will have 8GB and 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM. It also offers NFC support, Dolby Panoramic sound, X-axis linear motor.
As for optics, the handset will feature a triple camera setup at the rear comprising a 50-megapixel OIS Sony IMX766 sensor a16MP Sony IMX481 ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP B&W sensor as well. It will also feature a 16MP selfie shooter for capturing selfies and video chatting.
Concerning battery power and charging, it will have a 500mAh battery with 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 super flash charge. The smartphone connectivity option includes 4G/5G support, dual-sim support, dual speakers, a Type-C port for charging and file transfer, and a headphone jack for music playback.
