MER1T Joins The Houston Outlaws For The 2022 Season

MER1T has joined the Houston Outlaws esports team that got into the action as soon as the Overwatch League offseason kicked off.

The Houston-based professional Overwatch esports team is still riding high on the success of the 2021 season. Furthermore, the team is currently filling in the gaps that have still remained open.

MER1T Joins The Houston Outlaws

Choi “MER1T” Tae-min will be joining the Outlaws for the 2022 season, according to a tweet from the esports team. The O2 Blast hitscan DPS has been linked to the Overwatch Contenders Korea scene for several years.

Furthermore, MER1T has been part of several teams including RunAway, LGE.Huya, and KongDoo Panthera. Last year, he joined O2 Blast and played vital role in the team’s championship win over Talon Esports in season 2 of Contenders Korea last year.

For this year, the Houston Outlaws retained DPS Dante “Danteh” Cruz, while bringing in the 2021 Rookie of the Year Oh “Pelican” Se-hyun to acquire the flex position. However, there was still a requirement for a dedicated hitscan player.

Now, with MER1T joining the Outlaws, the team’s damage lineup should be complete. It is worth mentioning here that MER1T has shown superior skills on heroes like Widowmaker and Cassidy.

The team’s flex support line was filled by former Atlanta Reign star Kim “Ir1s” Seung-Hyun and Mun “Lastro” Jung-won, formerly of the Toronto Defiant. Although the team is still lacking dedicated main support, DotEsports suggests that it may not fill the position because Overwatch 2 focuses more on fast-paced damage.

The team’s only other holdover from its 2021 roster, Shin “PIGGY” Mun-jun has been holding down the tank line on his own. For the latest esports updates, watch this space.
