Elon Musk is prepping to step down as Twitter CEO, but it is unclear what he plans to do after quitting as the platform’s top executive.
There has been a lot of debate on whether Musk should continue to spearhead Twitter as the platform’s CEO. The 51-year-old business magnate created a Twitter poll on December 19, urging the Twitterverse to vote on whether or not they want him to remain Twitter CEO.
The Twitter poll garnered a whopping 17 million votes in just 24 hours, according to a report by Dexerto. Notably, the final tally of the poll shows a significant 57.5 percent of Twitter users do not want Musk as the CEO of Twitter.
Elon Musk Says He Will Step Down As Twitter CEO
Musk is willing to agree to the terms of the poll. However, there’s a big catch. “I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job!” Musk tweeted.
I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams.

The Tesla CEO went on to explain that once he is replaced as Twitter CEO, he will “just run the software & servers teams.” Musk has been bent on radically overhauling the platform since taking over.
He revamped the verification system and introduced major changes in the Twitter workplace. So, if a new CEO is appointed, only time will tell what the future has in store for Twitter.
In the meantime, Musk is mum on the timeframe for his resignation as the CEO.
