Disguised Toast drops major hint about his next esports title

Disguised Toast has hinted at the esport DSG could be entering next while casting doubt on the possibility of signing a Smash player.

Jeremy ‘Disguised Toast’ Wang is a popular content creator, who created his own esports project dubbed Disguised earlier this year. Much to his delight, it is gaining huge popularity in the community.

Regrettably, results aren’t always going as expected for Disguised. Last month, Disguised dropped the men’s Valorant squad. Now, it has two squads including a men’s League of Legends team and a Valorant Game Changers squad.

Earlier this year, Toast admitted that the esports venture is set to lose nearly $1 million in 2023. Still, the content creator isn’t shying away from making expansion plans. Also, he is sparing no effort to cover the costs of the project.

In line with this, Toast launched a Patreon last month, giving fans a glimpse into the team’s finances in exchange for just $5. Fans got an exclusive look at the team’s salaries, revenue, and merchandise.

Disguised Toast sheds light on his next esports title

Toast said he is “looking to sponsor a TFT player at competitive events” earlier this week while streaming Disguised’s NACL match against Cincinnati Fear. “But it’s not because he’s going to be, like, ‘Yeah, I’m DSG,’” he said. “It’s more to have someone to root for.

“We’re still working out the details. Long story short, TFT is something very high on our priorities. You’ll probably hear something official within the next couple of months.”

However, Toast clarified that this is a passion project, noting that esports teams “don’t really belong in RNG games”. Also, he joked that he won’t get into Teamfight Tactics because it is a very cheap game.

“You pay them 50 bucks and that’s more money than they’ve seen their entire life,” he said. Disguised promised he would sign a Super Smash Bros. player if his Patreon reached 3,000 subscribers before the end of July.

However, the number of patrons is around 1,700, and the folks at Dexerto believe this implies the target won’t be met. According to Toast, 1v1 games aren’t attractive for esports teams and he has also explained why he thinks that entering 1v1 games is not an exciting proposition for esports teams.

“I just don’t think teams really belong in a 1v1 game,” he said. “I still find teams to be a little weird, even in fighting games. My personal opinion is that esports teams, when it comes to 1v1s, it doesn’t translate as well. It can be, like, Cloud9 Mang0 or TSM Leffen, but it’s never like, ‘TSM beat C9’. It’s always like, ‘Mang0 beat Leffen’.

“It’s a big difference where the credit really does go to the player, which it should, it’s a 1v1 game. It doesn’t require teamwork. There’s no team in a teamwork-less game.

“I feel like if I were to get into a fighting game, it would be Riot’s fighting game.” Notably, Toast recently returned to the Game Changers competition with a new roster.

Riot Games’ fighting game Project L is currently under development. The developers said in an August 2022 update that were still working on the game’s core mechanics.
