ChatGPT voice chat is now available to free users on Android as well as iOS apps. Now, users can have real-time voice conversations with AI just like Google Assistant.
ChatGPT brought the potential of artificial intelligence to the general public following its public release last year. Despite the turmoil at OpenAI due to the firing of Sam Altman, the company’s flagship product ChatGPT continues to receive new features.
Notably, OpenAI has added voice chat support for free users of ChatGPT. This feature was originally made available only to the paid users of the service.
ChatGPT Gets Voice Chat Support
The newly added feature is available on the official ChatGPT App for Android and iOS. This feature enables users to have one-on-one voice conversations with an AI bot.
You can use this feature by tapping on the headphone icon in the ChatGPT app. Moreover, you can choose between 5 different voices in which the app responds to you.
ChatGPT with voice is now available to all free users. Download the app on your phone and tap the headphones icon to start a conversation.

ChatGPT will start responding to you like a real person as soon as you select the voice, According to the folks at MySmartPrice, the tone and voice modulations by ChatGPT is better than Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri.
You can end the voice chat after completing the conversation. Alternatively, you can use the normal chat version of ChatGPT. It is worth noting that voice chats are currently not available on the website version.
Voice chats were first introduced to ChatGPT in September 2023 only for ChatGPT Plus subscribers. However, OpenAI has finally removed the paywall to access the feature.
It will be interesting to see whether users will face some issues while accessing the feature due to the company’s internal problems. Reportedly, more than a whopping 90 per cent of OpenAI employees have threatened to resign from the company after the board fired Sam Altman.
Elon Musk, who stepped down from OpenAI’s board of directors recently claimed that artificial intelligence has the potential to become the most disruptive force in history.
