Samsung Galaxy S23 Series’ Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Chip Name Revealed

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor went official a few months ago. The chip maker did not mention Samsung in its official list of partners for an unknown reason.

Meanwhile, the Korean tech giant was reportedly prepping to use an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip in its Galaxy S23 lineup. Now, a new report has confirmed this speculation.

Notably, 9To5Google has spotted a document for the Galaxy S23 series that mentions a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy.

This version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will reportedly offer higher clock speeds for the GPU and its prime CPU core as compared to the regular SD8 Gen 2 chip.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Series Processor Details

As a result, this unannounced processor will deliver higher performance. Furthermore, this chipset could be fabbed on Samsung Foundry’s 4nm process rather than TSMC’s 4nm technology.

However, Samsung isn’t likely to opt for a different manufacturing process for the chipset as compared to the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

To those unaware, the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series usually come in two versions. This includes the Snapdragon and Exynos versions.

While the Snapdragon version goes official in China and the US, the Exynos variants hit store shelves in other regions. However, the company might decide to launch only one version of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra this year.

So, it is safe to assume that the Galaxy S23 trio will pack the unannounced Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy.
