Valkyrae Responds To Fans Criticizing Her For Wearing A Fortnite x Balenciaga Hoodie

Valkyrae has recently been catching flak for wearing the controversy-plagued Fortnite x Balenciaga hoodie during a recent broadcast.

Rachell ‘Valkyrae’ Hofstetter returned to broadcasting as usual after presenting an award during the 2022 Game Awards. To those unaware, she has more than a whopping 3 million YouTube subscribers.

Notably, Rae’s recent stream raised a few eyebrows as she wore a hoodie from Fortnite’s 2021 collaboration with Balenciaga. This simple, basic black sweatshirt has the words ‘Fortnite x Balenciaga’ in the game’s trademark font.

Some fans did not support Rae’s decision to wear it. In fact, some fans linked it to the current controversy surrounding Balenciaga.

Valkyrae Comes Under Fire For Wearing A Fortnite x Balenciaga Hoodie

To recap, the brand came under fire after a controversial photoshoot featuring young children and a Supreme Court case. The company has taken legal action against those involved in the photo shoot, according to a report by Dexerto.

“Yes, I know Balenciaga was canceled. I understand,” Rae said. “But I figured no one would see it under my jacket. But a few of you have noticed, so now I feel insecure and now I feel like I need to go change.”

“I already own it,” she continued. “It’s not like I’m gonna go buy more. …I thought maybe they wouldn’t notice, but people in chat noticed!”

Moreover, Rae admitted that she didn’t know the full story behind people canceling Balenciaga. She urged her fans not to ask her to change out of her outfit.

“Don’t make me change,” she said. “I feel like you guys just wanna make me change because you can. But new leaf Rae, alright? It’s true. She continues, ” It’s Capricorn season, alright? It’s fine. Just don’t look!”

In October, Rae was called out by her fans for using the AAVE (African American Vernacular English ) phrase. She released an apology to viewers and said she would avoid using it on stream.
