Epic Games is bent on shutting down wagers in Fortnite and threatens to ban NRG’s Cody “Clix” Conrod if he continues promoting and participating in friendly competition.
Aside from official competitions, as well as in-game tournaments promoted by Epic Games, top players pass the time by engaging in wagers. When public lobbies and Arena gets boring, wagers serve as the saving grace for streamers when there’s barely any action.
Professionals around the world engage in friendly wagers for several reasons. While some turn to wagers because it is the only way to find competition outside of a tournament setting, others engage in wagers because their viewers find it entertaining.
After several years of wagers in the pro scene, it looks like Epic is pushing to shut them down for those who are under the legal gambling age. Keeping in line with that, Clix was given a strict warning on Mar. 25, preventing him from partaking in wagers.
“Won’t be playing or having anything to do with wagers,” Clix, 16, tweeted. “Just got personally messaged by Epic and was told to stop.”
Everything, including high-stakes wager, or small and friendly wager between friends, or rivals is now off-limits, Dexerto reported. If he ignores the warning, his account will be banned.

“Recommend others to stop as well, tweeting this so people are aware,” Clix explained. Wagers involve a form of gambling. Some wagers might be for a few dollars, but others might be for a few thousand.
With restrictions over engaging in wagers, top-level pros are left with even fewer options than before. As Clix noted that he simply won’t be playing Arena moving forward. The online mode is allegedly plagued by stream snipers.

“Nice game, f***ing nothing to do,” fellow pro ‘Wolfiez’ chimed in. “F***ing hell this game sucks,” Benjy ‘Benjyfishy’ Fish stated in his now-deleted tweet. Epic has made an official statement yet. Remember to stay tuned here for further information.
